The
West bank is 5,860 square kilometres (about a fifth the size of Wales). The
population is 2,676,740 (estimate for July 2013). 56% of the population are
under 25 and the average age of the total population is 22, compared to the UK’s
30%. The population growth rate is just over 2%
The
population is made up of 76% Arab and 17% Jewish. In terms of religion 75% are
Muslim, 17% Jewish and 8% Christian. Life expectancy is 75 and the literacy
rate is 92%.
The
overall unemployment rate is 23% and the rate among 15-24 year olds is 39%.
18% of the population live below the poverty line.
